In the first game between Melita Dubliners CC and Krishna CC, the former were missing key players in Walker, Parker and Spiteri. Their absence had an adverse effect on Melita's batting depth.

Batting first, Melita could only make 106 runs and were bowled out in the 18th over. Alan Kyle for Krishna bowled extremely well and took four wickets in his allocated four overs which included taking three wickets in his second over.

For Melita, the better batsmen were Rory O'Brien (18 runs), Joy Ghoseroy (16 runs), Vaneet Sharma (13 runs) and top scorer Damien Willis with 27 runs not out.

Krishna knocked off the runs in the 14th over. Javed Shah made 29 runs before being caught, Chris Naudi 28 runs, Sam Dhandapani 11 runs and Jim Towers 15 runs not out. Krishna earned eight points for their win.

In the second game Marsa finally produced a batting performance which has been long overdue.

Unfortunately for The Overseas, it was their bowlers who were punished. Mike Micallef made 33 runs, Mike Caruana hit 42 runs, Sarfraz Ali 30 runs and John Grima 28 runs not out.

Aided by 46 extras, Marsa totalled 190 runs of the 20 overs.

As usually happens when chasing a big score, the Overseas tried desperately to keep up with the run rate. Paul Harris was caught in the deep by Ronnie Sacco for 15 runs and in the next over Phil Gibbs was lbw for 15 too.

Mike Smith also made 17 runs and Javed Iqbal 13 in the run chase. A late swing of the bat from Sean Duffy saw him making 14 runs. It was not enough and the Overseas CC ended up being bowled out for 98, a loss of 92 runs.

Marsa earned a maximum 10 points for their win.

Saturday's fixtures: 11 a.m. Marsa CC vs Krishna CC; 2.30 p.m. Melita Dubliners CC vs The Overseas CC.
