The 22nd European Association of Personnel Management international HR conference, with the theme 'European Workplace of the Future - Flexible and Competitive', was this year organised by CIPD Ireland and held in Dublin between May 11 and 13.
The FHRD, currently sitting on the EAPM Executive Board, was proud to head a group of six Maltese delegates from leading organisations.
The sessions were highly informative and it was quite an experience to listen to world-renowned HR gurus like Costas Markides from the London Business School and Professor Andrew Mayo from Mayo Learning International, among others.
The conference focused on valuing people as assets, the importance of lifelong learning in a changing world environment, the linking of HR to strategy within organisations, as well as managing diversity.
This proved to be another learning experience for the 400+ participants who attended from 28 countries. The contribution of Ireland's Prime Minister Bertie Ahern also gave some insight into how Ireland's economic situation has improved so much in the last number of years.
The FHRD will shortly be issuing details on the next CIPD Annual Conference, scheduled to be held in Harrogate, UK, between October 26 and 28.
