It seems that we residents of Qawra have been forgotten by the St Paul's Bay council. The Qawra playing field is in a disastrous state due to vandalism but after several weeks I sent an e-mail but no reply was forthcoming, nor was any action taken to remedy the situation.

One is to consider oneself lucky if one's children are not injured.

I do not know what whoever planned this playing field had in mind by installing a large fountain which most times does not work and the water is so filthy that its colour is dark green, when this space could have been taken up by a small 'house' for children to play in.

The council seems to make only bar owners in the area happy, by allowing them to widen pavements. Whose stupid idea was this? Now you cannot walk on the pavements as these are being taken over by chairs and tables. Also, the streets have been narrowed and rendered dangerous where the pavements have been widened at corners.

Where is the traffic board and MEPA? While one cannot park in a corner, the widening of pavements has been allowed at corners!

No maintenance on pavements is ever done. It is time for the government to check what councils are doing and where the money is ending up. Perhaps it is time for Qawra to have its own council.
