Three to be charged over string of thefts

Three men aged between 20 and 30 are expected to be arraigned soon and charged with a string of 10 robberies and attempted thefts.

The robberies took place over the past month-and-a-half and the police suspected the same people were involved because of the way they were carried out. Stone slabs at a number of commercial establishments in Ghaxaq, Qormi, Burmarrad, Birkirkara and San Gwann were dislodged to enable the robbers to gain access to the premises.

The police finally caught one of the three men red-handed as he was trying to burgle an establishment and, following investigations, managed to solve a number of other cases.

All the men were unknown in criminal circles, police sources said.
