Moderate earthquake shakes Los Angeles

A moderate earthquake of magnitude 5.3 shook the Los Angeles area yesterday according to the US Geological Survey.

The quake was centred around Yucaipa, California, 126 km east of Los Angeles. Buildings in downtown Los Angeles swayed during the quake, but there were no visible signs of damage, witnesses said.

A 5.3 magnitude earthquake can cause considerable damage.
