The parish of Zejtun is celebrating the feast of our patron saint, Catherine of Alexandria. This year's feast is celebrated with more grandeur since it is the 1,700th anniversary of the martyrdom of St Catherine.

The archpriest, Fr Eric Overend, has set up an ad hoc committee for this occasion. One of the activities organised was held last Saturday. The atmosphere was beautiful with both local band clubs playing good music and with the newly restored statue of St Catherine in the middle, in front of the main door of the parish church.

Later on the two band clubs together performed the same two hymns during the inauguration of a new statue which is now placed in the middle of the pjazza.

I must say that this year's feast is another occasion where in Zejtun we are celebrating one feast - the feast of unity under the protection of St Catherine, our patron saint.

I wish everyone a saintly feast full of unity.
