I want to express my disappointment at the way the Commissioner for Children's position on in-vitro fertilisation was dismissed by those who disagreed with her in the wake of the report on Parliament's Social Affairs Committee meeting.

The throwing of mud and calling of names is hardly the way in which the discussion on this sensitive matter should evolve towards a sound conclusion.

I feel strongly that scientific, health, social and ethical considerations need to be taken into account in determining a way forward that reflects the common good.
