First consignment of Peugeot 1007 due

Local Peugeot representatives Michael Attard Ltd have announced that the first consignment of the innovative 1007 model range is expected to arrive in Malta in August.

Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 2002, the Sesame concept car conveyed a creativity and boldness that immediately won over and enchanted the public. The 1007 embodies all the promised innovations of the Sesame, designed to make life easier, writing a new chapter on the design and safety standards of small family cars in the B segment.

The 1007 has a truly innovative design... At 3.73 m long, its compact size is ideal for threading in and out of busy traffic or parking in town,

Its single compartment silhouette, with a height of 1.62 m, provides an architecture that favours interior space and user-friendliness, allowing a high, dominating driving position that ensures excellent visibility and safety.

The open sesame remote-controlled electric sliding doors, first seen on the Sesame concept car, are standard fitment on all 1007 models:

- creating a generous, innovative opening (length 920 mm), that provides unprecedented accessibility to the passenger compartment;

- sliding rearward without exceeding the overall length of the vehicle;

- their mechanical action ensuring that they stay close to the body, exceeding the width of the door mirrors by less than one centimetre, allowing parking in very narrow places while providing ample room to get into and out of the vehicle;

- contributing to the excellent panoramic visibility enjoyed by all occupants, itself a source of safety;

- protecting two-wheelers from the inadvertent opening of traditional hinged doors; and

- thanks to their meticulous design, they are equipped with the maximum number of operating safety systems.

The expressive, functional design by Pininfarina, has balanced, dynamic, elegant proportions. It is a design that asserts the new stylistic front identity of the Peugeot marque - a large, unique mouth with a cat-like expression.

There is a choice of two petrol engines and a diesel, ensuring excellent performance and a high level of acoustic comfort.

The two petrols of 1,360 and 1,587 cc produce 75 and 110 bhp of peak power, respectively. The torque (pulling power) is 118 Nm at 3,300 rpm and 147 at 4,000 rpm. The 1.4-litre can be mated either to a five-speed manual or a five-speed two-Tronic controlled manual gearbox, while the 1.6 comes only with the five-speed two-Tronic controlled manual gearbox.

The 1,398 cc Diesel produces 70 bhp of peak power and 160 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. It also comes with the five-speed manual gearbox.
