Tourism Minister Francis Zammit Dimech inaugurated the 2005 Malta International Art Biennale at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta yesterday.

Dr Zammit Dimech was accompanied by Dame Françoise Tempra, the president of the Malta Biennale, and mingled with art lovers and the artists who exhibited their works, ranging from sculpture to painting, graphics, design, watercolour drawings, architecture, photography and cinematography.

The biennale, which will feature exhibitions in a number of different venues including Wignacourt Museum, Tempra Museum for Contemporary Art, Corinthia Palace Hotel Gallery, Crowne Plaza Malta, Rempec, Alka Gallery, De Porres Cultural Centre, Mangion Studio Gallery, Gnien il-Lirika Square in Zejtun, St Philip and St James Chapel San Gwann and the Medical Imaging Centre.

The venues will be exhibiting works in different periods until October and works will also be exhibited in France, Russia, Germany, Italy and Libya.
