Last month, the Wistin Camilleri Gozo Centre for Art and Crafts (GCAC), in collaboration with the Malta Crafts Council, held an exhibition in Temse, Belgium.
This is the first time that such an exhibition of crafts from Gozo has been held in Belgium.
The exhibition was officially inaugurated by Minister Giovanna Debono and Temse mayor Luc De Ryck. The official opening was attended by 360 special guests, including representatives from the Culture, Sports and Youth Services in Belgium as well as Maltese and Gozitans who reside in Belgium.
Over 400 items, all products of classes taught at GCAC, were displayed, ranging from lace and pyrography to glass and gilding pieces.
After the ceremony a Gozitan night was held and local food and drinks were served, some of which were donated by local companies.
The exhibition was visited by around 2,300 people from Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.
Mr De Ryck and Nadine Pauwels, director for Artofil Lace School in Temse, showed appreciation and praised the high standard of works exhibited.
The amount of work put into the exhibition was fruitful and proved to be successful for the artists, artisans and Gozo.
