Normal Lowell, leader of far right movement Imperium Europa, was yesterday fined Lm60 for contempt of court when he failed to appear in two separate cases before the same magistrate despite having been duly notified.
Magistrate Giovanni Grixti also ordered that Mr Lowell is brought to court under an arrest warrant during the next sittings scheduled for June 30.
In the first case, Mr Lowell and Kevin Ellul Bonici were charged over articles that appeared on the website Maltafly.com.
In the second case that was to start yesterday, Mr Lowell was to face charges of inciting racial hatred during a public meeting held on January 22, soon after incidents at Safi barracks during a protest by irregular immigrants.
The magistrate was informed that the police did not have proof that Mr Ellul Bonnici had in fact received the summons but they did have proof that Mr Lowell had.
Superintendent Peter Paul Zammit is prosecuting.
