Malta champion Alex Borg was last night playing in the last 32 stage of the European Snooker Championship, currently being held in Ostrow, Poland. He made it through the group stages unscathed after winning seven matches.

Mellieha-born Borg was only one of four players to reach the knockout stages with a maximum seven wins in the qualifying phase.

In all, 64 players are taking part including Simon Zammit who also qualified from Group E with four wins and three defeats.

Galea and Mifsud played in the Seniors Open in Poland but failed to reach the knockout stages.
