Marlon Bugeja, 28, of the UK but presently residing in Qormi, was yesterday arraigned before Magistrate Antonio Mizzi and charged with possession and trafficking of the drug ecstasy on Sunday night.
Mr Bugeja was taken to court under arrest by police Inspector Nadia Lanzon who prosecuted.
Inspector Lanzon objected to a request for bail by defence counsel Edward Gatt. However, Mr Bugeja was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm5,000 on condition he reported to the Qormi police station twice a day.
Inspector Lanzon said in court Mr Bugeja, who has been in Malta since July last year, admitted to the police he had 25 ecstasy pills. However, only eight were found in his possession at the time of the arrest during a party at Paradise Bay on Sunday.
