193 born to single mothers
A total of 193 babies were born to single mothers in the first quarter of this year. Health Minister Louis Deguara told Adrian Vassallo in reply to a parliamentary question that 52 of the mothers were aged between 15 and 19; 67 were between 20 and 24; 44 were between 25 and 29; 22 were between 30 and 34, seven were between 35 and 39 and one was between 40 and 44. The minister also listed the localities where the mothers were resident. The highest number, 11, were resident at Cospicua and Birkirkara.
