20 Maltese beauties of Italian descent compete for title

Twenty Maltese beauties with Italian surnames or descent will participate in Miss Italia Malta for Miss Italia nel Mondo 2005, to be held on Saturday, June 11, outside the Casinò di Venezia on the Vittoriosa waterfront.

The winner will represent Malta in the 15th edition of the international contest that will take place in Salsomaggiore Terme, Italy, on June 28. The final night will be broadcast worldwide by RAI.

The winner will also be given Lm3,000 worth of publicity and promotional contracts in Italy, as well as VIP treatment throughout their whole stay.

Antonella Vassallo, organiser of this year's Miss Italia Malta for Miss Italia nel Mondo, said the Malta show will feature a performance by Malta's recent Eurovision heroine Chiara, as well as other artists including the YADA Dance company, Tristan B, Ali & Lis, Georgina, Nicky Farrugia (a former Miss Italia Malta winner), J. Anvil and the three tenors - Brian Cefai, Andrew Sapiano and Joseph Aquilina - accompanied by soprano Stephanie Wismayer Degiorgio.

The participants themselves will be entertaining the audience with an evening of fashion, talent, music and choreography.

During the show and at the after-show VIP party, DJ Steve Caesar will be spinning the tunes. The international organiser of Miss Italia Nel Mondo, Nino Malizia, will be attending the Malta show and the international sponsor of Miss Italia Nel Mondo is Sasch.
