The executive board of the Federation of English Language Teaching Organisations - Malta (Feltom) refers to the article entitled Taxing 1,686 Families by Evarist Bartolo (May 25).

The article states that TEFL schools have been told (by the government) not to let the host families know about the Inland Revenue Department's circular.

The department's letter mentioned in the article is not clear as far as the obligations Maltese law imposes upon people prior to divulging information. In this respect and in the interest of all concerned, both schools and host families, Feltom is seeking information from the Commissioner of Inland Revenue to ensure that Feltom member schools will be in a position to process the request in full respect of Maltese law, the interests of the families and the tourism industry with particular reference to the English Language Teaching (ELT) sector.
