Folk singing fans will have a treat tonight at 7 with the launch of the National Folk Singing Festival at the Argotti Gardens in Floriana.

This eighth edition of the festival organised by the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts runs until Sunday. It features folk singers and guitarists, folk groups and foreign performers including the Tunisian ethnic group Wachm, the Italian duo Valla e Scurat and Musica Nostra with songs and music from eastern Sicily.

The ensemble Nafra, the group Muzifolk and the group Etnika will take part in the fesival. This year's festival is being dedicated to the late Guzé Cassar Pullicino and will be presented by Charles Coleiro.
