I remember dreaming about three years ago that somebody would get this brilliant idea of reuniting those people who used to freak out about the 1980s music.
I tune in regularly to Reflex, the programme aired on Saturdays on Capital Radio, playing only 1980s music.
The more I listened, the more I looked forward to every programme because it is like reliving the past. On Reflex, DJ Alex Grech plays the type of music that used to be danced to in clubs like Polytechnic, Raffles, Styx II, and so many others.
Besides, he gives out lots of details about the songs and the artistes of that by-gone era.
This reminded me of those days when I used to rush to the music shops to buy first-hand stuff of my favourite artistes such as Depeche Mode, Soft Cell and Madonna.
Although 20 years have gone by, and I am now married with children, I am still a great fan of that music. Suddenly my wish came true, because my idea of reuniting the fans also crossed Mr Grech's mind. Reflex on Saturday morning turned into Reflex 1980s parties which started being organised by Reflex Promotions in various night clubs.
My husband and I have not missed one of these parties, of which the last (now the sixth) was held at Tattingers.
These parties are getting bigger and bigger. Each time it is like going out during the weekend to Raffles during the 1980s. That's the atmosphere in these Reflex parties - same music and same people from that era. It's great. It seems like we can hang on as teenagers for ever!
Join in the fun, enter www.reflexmalta.com and listen to the programme on Saturdays from 10 a.m. till 1.30 p.m. on Capital Radio. Do as I did and relive the 1980s.
