At the beginning of this month I found out that the Mosta local council was going to hold a meeting for residents.

I contacted a neighbour in my street - Triq L-Awrora - and decided to attend the meeting hoping to get some kind of information about the faith of this street as to when it is going to be asphalted, after more than 20 years of neglect.

During the meeting, the mayor remarked that he wished to see greater participation from more of the residents, as only a handful of people were present which made me realise that either there was no advertisements about this meeting or people have no time to waste because they do not have confidence in this council. After an hour-and-a-half listening to what the mayor and the other councillors had to say, it was time for us peasants to voice our complaints regarding Triq L-Awrora.

The mayor's answer was: "We are doing our utmost". Dear mayor, after one-and-a-half years of putting pressure and achieving nothing out of the government, don't you think it's time you put your foot down, such as organising a press conference on site?

Maybe some things could start rolling. Perhaps one doesn't want to step on anyone's corns. A year-and-a-half have passed by and the mayor has no other information besides that we are already aware of.
