The attention of all local badminton enthusiasts is currently centred on the H2Only Mixed League, whose fixtures from the first and second divisions are played practically every weekend.

Following the results of the latest matches played, the provisional tables in both divisions have taken a definite shape with the Bir-kirkara and Pawla teams sharing top spots.

In the First Division, Birkirkara 1565 and Pawla Wolves Schtag are still on equal points at the top. Both teams are undefeated and had earlier drawn their direct encounter.

In their latest outing, Birkirkara 1565 had the better of B. John Bull, defeating them 3-1.

Robert and Stefan Salomone and Fiorella Farrugia were the players behind this important result, which allowed Birkirkara 1565 to preserve their unbeaten record.

Jacqueline De Giovanni scored John Bull's consolation point.

On their part, Pawla overcame Birkirkara Lowenbrau with an identical 3-1 score.

Kenneth Vella, Anthony Xuereb as well as Catherine Dimech were the players behind the Paolites' victory, which enabled them to maintain the pace with their adversaries.

Jo'Anne Cassar scored Lowenbrau's only point.

The Second Division is equally developing into a similar two-horse race. In this case, Birkirkara Red Lion have relinquished their former sole leadership and now share the top-of-the-table position with Pawla Wolves Schtag.

In their latest outing, the Wolves overcame Shuttles BC with a clear 4-0 score. Martin Camilleri, Edmond Abela and Austin Compagno obtained the points for the Wolves, thereby enabling them to join the Lions at the top.

In the other Second Division match of the day, Birkirkara Jazz chalked up a similar 4-0 result over B. Power Fruit, thereby leaving the latter on their own at the wrong end of the table.

Patrick Cassar, Samuel Cali and Ivan Salomone were the players behind this positive result for Jazz.

The activities of the Badminton Association will now continue next Sunday with more fixtures from the first and second divisions of the Mixed League.

Div. One standings: Birkirkara 1565 and Pawla Wolves Schtag 14 points; B. Lowenbrau and B. John Bull 5 points.

Div. Two standings: Birkirkara Red Lion and Pawla Wolves Schtag 18 points; Shuttles BC 9; B. Jazz 8; B. Power Fruit 5.
