Every year the Mission Fund tries to distribute the sum of at least Lm500 to each and every Maltese and Gozitan missionary in Africa, Asia and in Latin America. Last year Lm67,000 was distributed.
In August, 28 lay Mission Fund missionaries, accompanied by a spiritual director, will carry out voluntary work in Perù.
The project Perù 2005 - Qalb Wahda includes the building of an extension to the school run by Fr George Scerri in Aplao, together with the building of two small houses for homeless families.
A container full of donated tools, foodstuffs and medicines is already on its way.
The lay missionaries pay from their own pockets for the travelling and subsistence expenses but donations from the public for the project are needed.
