The year is 2005 and Desert Storm has come to the town of Iklin, in the form of trenching works.
For over two weeks, we the business owners and residents of Iklin have been subjected to the noise and inconvenience of works being carried out in our vicinity.
While appreciating the fact that these works are necessary, there seems to be no consideration whatsoever by the contractor or the local council to curb the amount of dust swirling in the air.
The contractor should apply a layer of tarmac over the trench and clean up the mess as soon as he is ready from one section, not as he is being allowed to do, which is trenching all over Iklin and leaving the dust in the road and the trench not asphalted. How much longer are we going to have to suffer the dust in our homes and business premises? Are we living in the year 2005 and as a member of the European Union or are we a country still caught up in a time warp?
