The Competitiveness and Communications Ministry has denied that the structures already built as part of the Mgarr ferry terminal project in Gozo will have to be demolished.

The ministry was reacting to a statement made last week by Opposition Leader Alfred Sant who claimed that the Malta Environment and Planning Authority had approved a new project for the terminal which meant that the project had been radically changed.

In a statement, the ministry noted that at no phase of the project were there plans to undo anything that had been built in order to fit the new plans.

The ministry said the Malta Maritime Authority was extremely careful to ensure that the current structures will be integrated in the new plans.
