The Qui-Si-Sana Residents Association presented a petition against a proposed car park in Sliema to Arnold Cassola, secretary general of the European Green Party, for onward transmission to the European Parliament.
The association said the petition, signed by over 600 people, challenges the projected underground car park and commercial areas at Qui-Si-Sana Gardens which, it said, is unnecessary and which will have a tremendous negative impact on the adjacent residential area and the coastline.
The association said it appealed to the minister responsible for the environment and to the Prime Minister to reconsider the project.
It said it felt it had no alternative but to appeal to the EU Parliament through this petition and thanked Alternattiva Demokratika, particularly local councillor Michael Briguglio and Prof. Cassola, for their help and support.
