The Pietà local council has unanimously approved a motion moved by mayor Malcolm Mifsud expressing full support to the initiative by the Pro-Life Movement and Justice and Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg to include a reference in the Constitution saying that abortion is illegal and not permissible.

The motion was seconded by deputy mayor Annhelica Scerri.

Dr Mifsud stressed the importance that even on a community level, local governments would send a clear and strong message in favour of life.
