Three offers have been submitted to the Department of Contracts for the modernisation of the catering services at the Gozo General Hospital, the government said yesterday.

This forms part of a series of projects and initiatives aimed at modernising services and facilities offered at the hospital.

The new system, the offers for which are being adjudicated, allows meals to reach patients at the right temperature and in a more hygienic way. The project also involves staff training related to more modern practices for food distribution in hospital.

Besides the introduction of this modern system, other works in progress at the Gozo hospital include the second phase of the modernisation project at the Maternity Ward, which is expected to be finalised in the coming weeks with a total investment of about Lm80,000.
