Labour MEP John Attard Montalto yesterday filed a judicial protest in the First Hall of the Civil Court denying the existence of an agreement between the Maltese members of the European Parliament about voting on the Working Time Directive in Parliament.
In his protest filed against Nationalist MEP Simon Busuttil, Dr Attard Montalto declared that last week the European Parliament had debated and voted on the Working Time Directive.
Reports were carried to the effect that Dr Busuttil had alleged that the Maltese MEPs had agreed they will all be voting in the same manner on the directive.
Dr Attard Montalto declared that at no time had there been any agreement with him, whether in his personal capacity or as head of the delegation to this effect.
As a result, the reports were a false allegation that was damaging Dr Attard Montalto's honour.
Dr Attard Montalto warned Dr Busuttil that if he did not declare he had been wrongly reported or if he failed to declare there was never an agreement between the Maltese MEPs on the directive, Dr Attard Montalto was reserving the right to take further action.
Dr Attard Montalto signed the protest himself.
