The Wilson Malta Squash knockout finals were played last weekend at the Marsa Sports Club.
The first two finals of the day were in team events.
Bugeja's side defeated the one of Rizzo with surprising ease, 3-0, to take the title. At the same time, Calvagna's team fought out an incredibly close match with Team Pace Grima. Although the overall result was also 3-0 the individual matches could not have been closer.
Before the singles contests, the Plate finals in the over 40s and restricted events were also held.
Both matches required five sets to determine a winner and had the spectators on the edge of their seats.
In the over 40s final, Liz Said managed to claw and battle her way past George Goodall 3-2.
In the restricted final, James Gauci Borda almost gave away a 2-0 lead before finally defeating Alex Scerri 3-2.
In the main finals, Steve Rizzo claimed the honour in the restricted event by beating Johanna Rizzo, his wife, 3-0.
Karl Grech Orr then proved too strong and consistent for Karl Magri, winning comfortably 3-0.
