Two men, who had been put on probation on conviction, were yesterday each fined Lm100 for breaching probation orders.
In a judgement handed down in November 2003, Jason Abela, 34, of Qawra had been given a two-year jail term suspended for four years and fined Lm500 when he admitted to complicity in stealing Lm18,000 from J&V Vibro Block, situated in Zebbug, on February 8, 2002.
Mr Abela had also pleaded guilty to holding Raymond Vassallo against his will and complicity in burgling Mr Vassallo's house on the night between August 30 and September 1, 2001. He was also put on probation for four years.
In a separate case, which was concluded in December 2000, Joseph Camilleri, 35, of Zejtun was put on probation for two years for the possession of heroin.
Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera heard how both Mr Abela and Mr Camilleri had breached conditions laid down when put on probation. After hearing probation officers testify the magistrate fined both men Lm100.
