Eight charged after police raid on alleged brothel

Five Russian women and three Maltese men are helping the police in their investigations over prostitution and the running of a brothel in St Julian's.

The police said that the persons concerned are expected to be charged in court in the coming days.

The case developed after Superintendent Alexandra Mamo led a police team during a raid in the locality on Friday night.

During the raid at the place allegedly being used as a brothel, the police found various Maltese and foreigners engaged in this illegal activity, according to a police statement.

The police seized various objects and money during the operation.

A team of court experts was appointed by the court to help in an inquiry.
