The President and Mrs Eddie Fenech Adami yesterday spent the morning in Rabat, hearing Mass there, meeting people and calling at L'Isle Adam and Count Roger band clubs, Casa Bernard and on sculptor Anton Agius.
Accompanied by mayor Frank Fabri, the President attended Mass at St Paul's parish church, met representatives of various voluntary and religious organisations and visited Ta' Giezu Oratory.
He then proceeded to Casa Bernard, a residence that is an example of vernacular architecture belonging to the Magri family.
The President praised sculptor Anton Agius for his great artistic competence and visited an exhibition of Maltese crafts put up for the occasion.
Mrs Fenech Adami visited the residents at Villa Messina and the nuns at St Joseph's convent.
Dr Fenech Adami said Rabat was rich not just for its historic sites and buildings but also because its people appreciated their heritage.
