An alternative to Id-Denfil

You reported last Sunday that educators and parents have long been clamouring for an alternative to Id-Denfil, the Maltese reader used in schools. For the sake of accuracy and justice, there has been such an alternative used by most private and Church schools when some years back, for some reason, they were not provided with Id-Denfil.

I refer to the series called Il-Gojjin compiled by Tony C. Cutajar, which were praised by such writers and educationalists as Professor Oliver Friggieri and Trevor Zahra. Now that this popular series is out of circulation, De La Salle College decided to produce a new one under the name of Gojjin Iehor, compiled by the same author. A number of books in the series have already been published and are being used by various classes. However, I must congratulate Merlin Library on their latest initiative.
