Prison population at 288
The prison population as of April 4 stood at 288, of whom 216 were sentenced prisoners and 72 were awaiting the outcome of court proceedings, Justice and Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg told Carmelo Abela (MLP) in reply to a parliamentary question.
The prison population as of April 4 stood at 288, of whom 216 were sentenced prisoners and 72 were awaiting the outcome of court proceedings, Justice and Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg told Carmelo Abela (MLP) in reply to a parliamentary question. The minister said 45 prisoners were under 25 years old.
Dr Borg said in reply to another question that there are no plans to enlarge the prisons, especially as the complex was enlarged 10 years ago.
