Labour officials meet Libyan ambassador
The fishing zone controversy between Malta and Libya was discussed at a meeting Libyan Ambassador Saad Elshlemani had with a Malta Labour Party delegation yesterday.
The meeting, called at the MLP's request, was held at the party headquarters in Hamrun.
The MLP said the meeting was specifically called in order to discuss Libya's decision to impose a 62-mile fishing preservation area, a decision that is said to affect traditional grounds of Maltese fishermen.
The MLP called for a "diplomatic" solution to the problem.
The Labour delegation was composed of deputy leader Charles Mangion and foreign affairs spokesman Leo Brincat.

How pathetic for the two Labour MPs to discuss fishiing preservation areas with the Libyan Ambassador at this particular point in time when the order of things in Libya could collapse at any moment. How frightening thinking about it were these people to be entrusted to manage Malta's foreign affairs in such a haphazard manner. This is politics conducted in an ameturistic manner at its best !
