Two brothers were yesterday remanded in custody after they were charged with damage to property and injuring three police officers and civilians.

Joseph Agius, 35, and his brother Jason, both of Hamrun, were charged before Magistrate Silvio Meli by Police Inspector Therese Sciberras from the Qawra police station.

The Agius brothers were accused of being involved in a fight during a wedding reception at La Salita Restaurant, in Mellieha, on Friday night.

The prosecution claims that the two brothers had an argument and started fighting. Initially they argued and fought outdoors but when the police arrived the two brothers walked inside and the argument escalated and a free for all ensued.

Officers from the mobile squad and the criminal investigation department had to be called to quell the fight.
