Two unique, feline breeds were exhibited for the first time at the recent Malta Feline Fanciers International Cat Show under the auspices of the Federation Internationale Feline (FiFe).
An IC Harwood Malta, a cream and white female Persian, owned and exhibited by Connie Gauci de Brincat, became the first FiFe international champion.
The Persian was assessed according to international breed standards and awarded her final CACIB by British judge Penny Bydlinski.
A Sacred Birman was also exhibited for the first time in Malta. This breed is named the Sacred Birman as it is thought to have been brought to Europe by travellers in the early 1900s from a temple in Burma. It is a majestic cat with dark points, white gloves, silky hair and sapphire blue eyes.
S'Oliems Kartur, otherwise known as Coco, was imported from Sweden by its owner Gabriella Arcidiacono and awarded its first FiFe challenge certificate and the judges special award at the event.
