Two police constables, Lawrence Gabriele and Joseph Buhagiar, both members of the SAG, left Malta last month to serve a year in the EU's police mission (EUPM) in Bosnia Herzegovina.

The police said the constables were selected from 45 applicants who ranged from constables to superintendents.

The Maltese constables are performing administrative work in Zenica, Sarajevo, and do not have executive powers or carry firearms.

The EU police mission was set up two years ago and is now in its final year. This is the first time that Malta has contributed volunteers.
