A young man was yesterday given a two-year jail term suspended for four years and fined Lm2,500 for involuntarily causing a man's death during a traffic collision two years ago.

Magistrate Saviour Demicoli heard 20-year-old Christopher Huddleston, of Fgura, plead guilty to the involuntary homicide of Melvin Friggieri and slightly injuring Robertino Said.

The accident took place when Mr Huddleston collided into another vehicle while driving a Toyota Starlet on November 23, 2002, in Hal Far. Mr Hussleston also admitted to slightly injuring Ian Grech and Andre Camenzuli who were passengers in the Toyota he was driving.

On handing down judgment, the magistrate noted Mr Huddleston's young age and that he had a clean criminal record. He banned Mr Huddleston from driving for a year and a half.

Police Inspector Nadia Lanzon prosecuted.
