Obituary

AGIUS. On April 25, IVAN, aged 39, passed peacefully away. He leaves to mourn his great loss his wife Minna, his daughter Laura, his mother Cettina, his brother Mark, his sister-in-law Sandra and his nieces Nicola and Rebecca, his in-laws Urpo and Kaarina Elomaa, his brother-in-law Juha, aunts and uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Sir Paul Boffa Hospital on Thursday, April 28, at 9 a.m. for Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. God speed.

CAMILLERI. On April 24, PAUL (tal-Kafé), aged 78, of Floriana, residing in Valletta, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss his daughters Marquita and Elizabeth, his grandchildren Lara and Samuel, his sister Imelda and brothers Michael and his wife Rose, and Victor, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 8.30 a.m. for St Publius parish church, Floriana, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be appreciated. May the Lord grant him eternal rest.

ZAMMIT. On April 25, at St Luke's Hospital, MARIA CARMELA, of Zurrieq, residing at Birzebbuga, widow of Cikku, aged 85, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her step-children Guzeppi and his wife Rita, Skolastika and her husband Joe Cachia, Karmenu and his wife Frances, Pawlu, Mary, widow of Vince Vella, Architect Ninu Zammit, MP, and his wife Margaret, Architect Leli Zammit and his wife Antoinette, her brother Joseph and his family, nephews and nieces, among whom Phyllis and her husband John Muscat, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 2.15 p.m. for St Catherine's parish church, Zurrieq, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m., followed by interment at St Leone Cemetery, Zurrieq.

Requiem Masses

The 6.30 p.m. Mass at St Patrick's church, Sliema, will be offered for the repose of the soul of BERNARD BORDA.

SPCA

The SPCA is holding the spring fair on May 22 at the Scouts headquarters, Floriana. Donations of books, bric-a-brac, household goods, kitchen utensils, jewellery, cosmetics, summer clothes, food and furniture are most welcome. Please give generously. Donations will be received at the SPCA Home, Floriana until May 14, weekdays between 9 a.m. and 12 noon.

Technology Contest

The deadline for entry into the European IST Prize is May 12 . The European IST Prize is the most distinguished prize for innovative products and services in the field of information society technologies and is open to companies or organisations which have an innovative IST product with a promising market potential.

The European IST Prize is organised by Euro-CASE with the sponsorship and support of the European Commission within the framework of the IST Programme. It is open to 33 countries.

Insurance Association

The Malta Insurance Association recently held its Annual General Assembly following which Mario C Grech was re-elected president, while Matthew von Brockdorff and Lino Ferris were elected vice-president and treasurer respectively.

Printing Association

Ronnie Agius has been re-elected president of the Malta Printing Industry Association following its recent annual general meeting. The council also confirmed Margaret Buhagiar as secretary and John Mifsud as treasurer. Paul Ellul has been appointed public relations officer. The other council members for 2005/6 are Carmel Bonnici, Peter Galea and Massimo Schiavone. Frankie Baldacchino is executive secretary and Geraldine Mintoff is the Malta Enterprise representative.

Mental Illness

The Richmond Foundation's self-help group for persons suffering from mental illness is meeting tomorrow at the Richmond Foundation, 433, St Joseph High Road, Hamrun, from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. Further information is available on 2148 2336, 2122 4580.

Gender And Science

The National Commission for the Promotion of Equality (NCPE) has set up a gender and science sub-committee, the Department of Information said.

The composition of the sub-committee was designed to include members from a broad spectrum of backgrounds such as academia, education, the civil service, authorities and ministries, industry, professional associations and other NGOs.  

Those involved in the world of science who wish to be included on a mailing list being set up are kindly requested to send an e-mail to gender.equality@gov.mt with their details.
