How are site plans compiled?
The mapping unit serves as Malta's National Mapping Agency providing key mapping products and services to Mepa, corporate clients and the public. In addition the unit coordinates the Authority's internal and web-based geographic information systems.

What other services does Mepa provide in this area?
A new orthophoto product was finalised last year. Generated from photography taken in May 2004, the new set of high resolution colour digital orthophotos will be deployed to the public through Mapa's internet services as well as providing a high quality, up to date product for other corporate users with established GIS environments.

What about land surveying?
Mepa also provides the setting out of road levels and alignments for new development or road surfacing. In this area, Mepa has now established itself as a leading provider of topographic surveys. It is encouraging to note that more architects are making use of our survey services. Our survey information allows clients to specify added value information e.g. scheme interpretation, traffic management proposals, official road formation levels etc.

Are these products available online?
The online GIS available on Mepa's website continues to be popular, providing free public access to large-scale mapping, orthoimagery and spatial data. During the past year data from Mepa's diverse units was collated and consolidated and presented online. New map content for Mepa's web-based GIS includes many new layers of spatial environmental information. Mepa's e-commerce facility enables clients to purchase formatted site plans online.
