Four women on PN Executive Committee

The NCW congratulates the four women elected to the Nationalist Party's Executive Committee: Paula Mifsud Bonnici, Liliana Risiott, Christine Deguara and Helena Ebejer.

Amendments to the PN statute have made this result possible and it goes to prove that structural changes at decision-making level are the first crucial step to ensure proportional representation for women and, subsequently, equal representation of men and women.

In its approved 2004 resolutions, the NCW called on Government to encourage political parties to initiate gender sensitisation of their party structure and to allow for the financing for the empowerment of women in politics (training, meetings and monitoring).

The NCW is sure that the four elected members will be in a position to promote the full and equal participation of women in all areas, including civil, economic, social and cultural life at the local, regional, national and international levels.
