People who have felt discriminated against are urged to flock into Valletta today to pay a visit to the EU's anti-discrimination campaign's information truck.

The truck with the motto For Diversity Against Discrimination is in Malta until tomorrow. The 30-ton vehicle provides information on European and national legislation combating discrimination at the workplace.

"Anybody that wants to voice his opinion is urged to come here to fight the scourge of discrimination. There's still a lot of unfairness in Malta and certain issues need to be tackled at once," Andrew Warrington, local representative of the EU's anti-discrimination campaign, said.

The truck set off on its road trip around Europe on March 21, International Day Against Racism.

It will be open to the public at Freedom Square, Valletta today from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and tomorrow from 9 a.m. to noon. The programme includes various presentations on discrimination as well as entertainment by local and foreign talent. This year's tour started in Brussels and will pass through 15 countries in the course of its 10-week trip. The truck will cover over 16,000 kms and 3,000 sea miles.

A highlight of this year's programme is a Europe-wide photo competition. The aim is to heighten participants' awareness of the multi-faceted forms of diversity in everyday life.

A lift provides easy access to the truck for wheelchair users.

The action and entertainment programme on the various stops have been planned in close co-ordination with national partners, NGOs, ministries, trade unions and employer associations so as to emphasise the national character of each venue.

A virtual tour through the truck on the Stop Discrimination website gives visitors a foretaste of the tour.
