Reverse Osmosis plants absorbed 5.2 per cent of total energy output from the power stations in the year up to last September, Public Investments Minister Austin Gatt said in reply to a parliamentary question by Silvio Parnis (MLP).

He said in reply to another question that production by reverse osmosis as of March 4 made up 55 per cent of total water production, the rest being extracted ground water. In Gozo, all production is ground water whose quality is improved at a polishing plant.
