The Gozo Amateur Athletics Association, in conjunction with the Malta Amateur Athletics Association and the Xaghra Local Council, will be holding the 30th Gozo Half Marathon on Sunday.

The 13.1 mile race, starts from Xaghra and passes through the picturesque villages of Marsalforn, Sannat, Xewkija, Ghajnsielem, Qala and Nadur before finishing in Xaghra.

Another eight-mile race will be held on the day, starting at 9.45 a.m. The route covers the same distance of the half marathon except for the stretches leading to Ghajnsielem and Qala.

There will be other runs on Sunday including 4km and 2km races and fun events for children.

Andrew Grech was the 2004 winner in 1:17.51. Carmel Camilleri was the first Gozitan runner home. Carmen Hili was the women's half marathon winner in 1:29.16.

The eight-mile race winners were Drew Lang and Marisa Muscat.
