Nationalist Party general secretary Joe Saliba and other senior party executives are set to remain in their posts as they are unlikely to be contested, party sources said yesterday.
Nominations for the posts open tomorrow and close on Friday. They include the posts of president of the party executive, president of the party administration, general secretary, assistant general secretary, international secretary and treasurer.
With the exception of the international secretary, Jason Azzopardi, who told The Times he would not be standing, all the other officials are expected to retain their seats.
Jean Pierre Farrugia is currently president of the party executive while Reggie Abela is president of the party administration. Angelito Sciberras is the assistant general secretary and Peter Darmanin is the treasurer.
Thirteen councillors were elected to the executive committee at the party's general conference on Friday. The committee is made up of 61 people and also has representatives from every district, from each of its sections and from among the PN's members of parliament.
