A light plane carrying 17 people went missing in Indonesia's remote Papua province yesterday, police said.

The Cessna plane left the mining town of Timika, about 3,400 km east of Jakarta, and failed to land at Enarotali airport, a one-hour flight away, they said.

Fourteen passengers were on board, including a child. There were three crew.
