Many animals on this planet are facing extinction today because of man's indirect activities such as pollution and dwindling habitats. But what about the blatant and direct destruction, such as the killing of elephants for their ivory? One might ask oneself what can one do about this desperate situation?
In our own backyard we have the senseless slaughter and maiming of thousands upon thousands of innocent birds as they rest from their long migration. The only reason politicians of both main parties don't take a compassionate stand on this issue is because of the 10,000 or so votes of the Maltese hunters.
This doesn't make sense when the non-hunting population is considerably larger. I am urging readers to use the power of their vote and put pressure on their local members of Parliament to eradicate this insane and barbaric activity.
