Delegation back from China

A delegation from the Foreign and European Affairs Committee, led by chairman Jason Azzopardi, has returned from a visit to China on the invitation of the foreign affairs committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

The other members of the committee were Labour MPs Evarist Bartolo and Leo Brincat and Nationalist MP Clyde Puli.

The topics discussed between the two delegations centred mainly on bilateral cooperation in the areas of tourism and education.

The decision by the China Shipping Group to use the Malta Freeport as a hub for their transhipment operations in the Mediterranean and the pending issue of mutual recognition of academic degrees between the two countries were also discussed.
