Dogs need exercise too

Yelp For Help is organising an educational treasure hunt called Walk Your Dog as part of its campaign aimed at raising awareness of the importance of exercising one's dog.

Moreover, walking a dog is a perfect excuse for owners to keep fit and enjoy the countryside and sea side, the organisation said.

The event is targeted at schoolchildren. It will be held at Buskett Gardens on April 24 from 9 a.m. Questions related to animal welfare and the environment will be posed to the pupils.

Groups will only be able to register if for a minimum of five people there is one canine participant - and a paw-print is the only signature needed for the dog to attend.

After the Treasure Hunt, the band Etnika will present a workshop/presentation for children of all ages, including an exhibition of traditional Maltese musical instruments.

The event will include a theatrical spectacle by one of the last exponents of tanbur playing, by 75-year-old Toni Camilleri.
