Neil Simon's comic masterpiece The Good Doctor, based on Anton Chekhov's short stories, is lined up for a two-weekend run at St James Cavalier.
Starting on Friday and staged by Unifaun Theatre, the play has long been described as a unique, effortless comedy about human drama.
The Good Doctor offers different situations, all of them dramatic, but presented in comic fashion, reminiscent of Roberto Benigni's acclaimed Life is Beautiful.
In The Good Doctor we visit a naïve governess who is taken advantage of by her employers, a civil servant unable to forgive himself for sneezing on his superior and a con-artist who tries to con another con-artist.
These are but a few of the characters brought to life by the impressive cast under the direction of John Suda. The cast includes Mr Suda himself, Philip Stilon, Elsa Romei, Michael Tabone, Maria Buckle, Alexandra Camilleri Warne and Luka Desira Buttigieg.
